We live in a world that glorifies productivity, hustle, and constant striving. But as Muslim women, our compass is different. Our goals are not only about the dunya, but also about building something that pleases Allah and nourishes our soul.
If you’ve ever felt torn between your ambitions and your values, this is your reminder: they don’t have to compete. When aligned, your goals can become a form of worship.
1. Begin with Intention (Niyyah)
It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu'minin, (Abu Hafs) 'Umar bin al-Khattab (ra) who said:I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say:
"Surely, (all) actions are (judged) by intentions (niyyah), and, verily, each man will have but that which he intended. (Bukhari & Muslim)
Before you set a single milestone, ask yourself: Why do I want this? Is it to gain approval, or to draw nearer to Allah? Shifting your “why” transforms your journey into ibadah.
2. Reframe Success
True success isn’t just measured in income, followers, or recognition. It’s measured in barakah — peace, fulfillment, and purpose. Sometimes the quiet, unseen wins are the most beautiful.
3. Anchor Yourself in Daily Acts of Worship
Goals without anchors drift. Salah, Qur’an, and dhikr keep you grounded when life gets noisy. Even small consistent habits — reading one ayah, making one du’a, or pausing for reflection — carry immense weight.
4. Balance Dunya and Akhirah
Your family has a right over you. Your body has a right over you. Your Lord has a right over you. Honouring all three is part of goal alignment. Burnout isn’t a badge of honour — it’s a sign of imbalance.
5. Surround Yourself with Reminders
Islamic conventions/lectures, sisters in faith, scheduled journaling prompts, or even the words you place on your vision board can keep your heart oriented toward Allah. We become what we’re surrounded by.
Final Reflection
Every step you take can either pull you closer to Allah or away from Him. When your goals reflect your faith, the journey itself becomes worship.
✨ Remember: It’s not about chasing more. It’s about chasing meaning.
